General Hyaluronic Acid Questions
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic Acid is a component of synovial fluid in the joint capsule and in the supporting tissues around the joint. In fact, Hyaluronic Acid is abundant in all the soft-tissue cells of body. In the joint, Hyaluronic Acid is responsible for directly lubricating the joint by making the synovial fluid more viscous and slippery, providing cushion and protection against friction.
Is Hyaluronic Acid absorbed orally?
Yes. Not only have we have performed double-blind placebo studies to show the efficacy of Hyaluronic Acid when administered orally, but now there has been research done in which the molecule has been radio-labeled and tracked into the body. In a recent study Oral HA (Conquer®) Reduces Joint Swelling, published in the July issue of the Equine Veterinary Journal, Hyaluronic Acid was proven to reduce post operative swelling in the Thoroughbred yearling following arthroscopic surgery. This was the first blinded and controlled study to prove oral efficacy of HA in the horse.
Is there any danger in taking too much?
No. Hyaluronic Acid is a non-toxic, all-natural substance found in abundance in the body. We have performed extensive toxicology studies in which 1x, 5x and 10x the recommended serving was administered for 90 days with no adverse side-affects. In laboratory studies, 400mg/kg has been administered safely.
Does Hyaluronic Acid test?
No. It is completely natural. There is already an abundant amount of Hyaluronic Acid in the body.
What’s the difference between Hyaluronic Acid and Glucosamine or Chondroitin?
Glucosamine, Chondroitin and Hyaluronic Acid are all related molecules; Glucosamine and Chondroitin are used in joint therapy for the repair and rebuilding of the tissue in a joint: cartilage, tendons, ligaments, etc. Hyaluronic Acid works on the joint fluid itself. While Glucosamine and Chondroitin are long-term therapies and may take several months to reach desired results, Hyaluronic Acid works relatively quickly and you should see improvement in days or weeks. All three GAGs (glycosaminoglycans) work synergistically together, meaning that each ingredient helps the other do its job in the joint better and more efficiently.
Where does your Hyaluronic Acid come from/what is the source?
The Hyaluronic Acid used in our products comes from a sterile, bio-fermentation extraction process, which is labeled “synthetic.” Other sources of Hyaluronic Acid, which are often labeled “natural,” may include roostercomb and bovine ocular-material. We believe that our source is superior for a number of reasons. Our Hyaluronic Acid is more ideal and consistent in terms of molecular weight then “naturally” sourced Hyaluronic Acid. In addition, there is not the same potential of animal protein transference that can cause a severe allergic reaction in synthetic Hyaluronic Acid as a “natural” Hyaluronic Acid.
Doesn’t Glucosamine and Chondroitin come from animals?
Yes. The standard methods of extraction for Glucosamine and Chondroitin come from shellfish and bovine trachea respectively. Do not consume Glucosamine if you are allergic to shellfish.
Is there any difference between Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate and Sodium Hyaluronan?
They all refer to the same molecule. The Hyaluronic Acid form only exists outside the body.
Are these products made in the United States?
Yes. All oral HA products are manufactured in the United States by FDA approved facilities.
Return to TopConquer Gel/Powder
What is Conquer?
Conquer is the original oral hyaluronic acid. It is concentrated Hyaluronic Acid in either a gel or powder base. A full 10cc serving contains 100mg of Hyaluronic Acid. The gel comes in a 60cc (6 full servings) tube. The powder comes in a 25 ounce (50 full servings) tub.
How do I use Conquer?
You must begin by loading the product for approximately 12 days. Give 1 full serving (10cc of the gel tube or ½ ounce of the powder) per day during this loading period either directly in the mouth (for gel). If you are using the gel, this will be for the first two tubes. Then, maintain by giving either ½ serving (5cc of the gel tube or ¼ ounce of the powder) per day or 1 serving every other day. Do not try to spread out to more than every other day.
Does the powder work as well as the gel?
There is no reason we think that the powder should not work as well as the gel. All of our other products which contain Hyaluronic Acid in the powder form have been successful for some time. The powder is an attractive alternative to the gel because it is somewhat more cost-effective and may be more convenient as a feed additive. We have many customers who use the powder who seem to be just as happy as gel-using customers.
I’ve accidentally left Conquer in extreme temperature/conditions; will it still work?
Unless the product has been exposed for a long time in very extreme conditions, the efficacy of the Hyaluronic Acid should still be good. It is the base, either the gel or powder, that is most effected by extreme conditions. If the gel or powder has returned to a state that it administrable, then the product should work as normal.
Do I want to use Conquer or Chondrogen EQ for my horse?
There is no wrong answer. Generally, the best rule of thumb is this: Conquer is for the relatively younger, active equine athlete or performance horse that needs a good preventative, or the horse with an acute or chronic joint condition. Chondrogen EQ is for the relatively older, retired, arthritic horse that can benefit from the added ingredients of Glucosamine and Chondroitin for repair. Chondrogen EQ is more cost-effective, so it makes sense that if you have an older, arthritic horse that will need a long-term maintenance therapy, this is the product that you would want to use.
Can my horse take both Conquer and Chondrogen EQ?
Yes. The ingredients in each product work synergistically with each other. We have several customers that use both products.
Why should I want to use Conquer over other brands of Hyaluronic Acid supplements?
Conquer is the original oral Hyaluronic Acid supplement for horses. Through clinical studies with proven results, we have formulated a product with the best quality Hyaluronic Acid for absorption and efficacy. With other products, you might get an inferior grade of Hyaluronic Acid that is not consistent or ideal for absorption and efficacy. You can never be sure if other products contain Hyaluronic Acid simply because it is popular; because of our research, you can be sure that we put Hyaluronic Acid in ours because it works.
Return to TopConquer K-9 Gel/ HA Chewables
What is Conquer K-9 HA Chewables?
Conquer K-9 HA Chewables is concentrated oral Hyaluronic Acid in either a gel or chewable tablet. Both are beef and liver flavored. There is 10mg of Hyaluronic Acid in each serving of 1cc serving of the gel and 10mg in each chewable tablet. There are 30cc (1 month supply) in the gel tube and 60 tablets (1 or 2 month supply) per bottle.
How do I use Conquer K-9?
For the gel, give 1cc per day for up to 100lbs either directly in the mouth. For the chewable, give one tablet for 50lbs or less and two tablets for over 50lbs.
Which is better, the gel or chewable?
The efficacy of the Hyaluronic Acid should be the same in both products. It is really a matter of personal preference, convenience and the animal’s taste. Both are beef and liver flavored and should be palatable, although it is not uncommon that an animal will like one form much more than the other. The chewable is more cost-effective per mg of Hyaluronic Acid for dogs over 50lbs.

Do I want to use Conquer K-9HA Chewables or Conquer K-9 Plus?

Return to TopChondrogen EQ Paste/Powder
What is Chondrogen EQ?
Chondrogen EQ is the synergistic blend of Glucosamine 5000mg, Chondroitin 500mg, Hyaluronic Acid 20mg and Manganese Sulfate 20mg per serving. The paste contains 10 servings per tube, and the powder is available in 25 and 75 ounce sizes (50 and 150 servings).
How do I use Chondrogen EQ?
You must begin by loading the product for approximately 7 days. Give 2 servings (20cc of the paste tube or 1 ounce of the powder) per day during this loading period either directly in the mouth (for paste) or on top of feed. Then, maintain by giving 1 serving (10cc of the paste tube or ½ ounce of the powder) per day.
Which is better, the paste or powder?
We are not aware of any difference in efficacy between the paste and powder. The powder tends to be the more popular because it is significantly more cost-effective than the paste.
Why is there less Hyaluronic Acid in the Chondrogen EQ than in Conquer?
Chondrogen EQ is designed to be used as a long-term maintenance product and is more cost-effective than the Conquer. Because the Hyaluronic Acid is in a synergistic blend with Glucosamine and Chondroitin, which are closely related molecules, you can get more benefit per mg then you would with the Hyaluronic Acid by itself in the same amount.
As I mentioned, there is no wrong answer; we have many happy customers who use the products the other way around.

Does M.A.S.S. test?
No. M.A.S.S. is not a steroid or drug. Chemically, there is no difference between giving M.A.S.S. or feeding rice bran oil and amino acids. However, M.A.S.S. provides the convenience and optimal formulation of these essential ingredients in one bottle.
How old does a horse have to be to use M.A.S.S.?
The best advice is to consult a veterinarian for specific conditions that may vary from horse to horse. For an otherwise healthy animal, there isn’t a minimum age that we have identified for using M.A.S.S.. The product is very popular for yearling prep among high-profile Thoroughbred farms.
Is this product safe for a pregnant mare?
We have not done specific research testing pregnant mares and M.A.S.S., but we know that all of the ingredients are natural and generally regarded as safe.

Is it for the joints? Hyaluronic Acid and MSM are effective carrier molecules, able to help deliver the vitamins, minerals, amino acids and needed moisture to the horn fiber in the hoof. While Hyaluronic Acid and MSM are popular supplements for joint health, they are not intended for that purpose in Contender.
What is this supposed to do?
You will notice that the speed at which a hoof grows will be markedly faster when using Contender. In addition, the quality of the hoof will be superior, sometimes appearing glossy without even being wet.

Return to TopJoint III 60/180 count
What is Joint III?
Joint III is a supplement containing 500mg of Glucosamine, 100mg of Chondroitin and 12mg of Hyaluronic Acid. Joint III is the synergistic blend of three important ingredients for joint health, a safe alternative to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Joint III is available in both 60 count (30 day) and 180 count (90 day) bottles.
How do I use Joint III?
Take 1-3 capsules daily with water around meals. Do not take any product containing Glucosamine if you are allergic to shellfish.
Should I use HA-30 or Joint III?
The answer to this question depends upon the user’s preferences. Both products are going to help lubricate the joints. Most people find that Joint III is what they are looking for to help with joint conditions, because of the added ingredients of Glucosamine and Chondroitin, which help repair damaged tissue. People who are looking for a general Hyaluronic Acid supplement for the health of all soft tissues usually lean towards the HA-30. Other people who choose HA-30 over Joint III include: those who are allergic to shellfish; those who find that Glucosamine and Chondroitin give them an upset stomach, or do not find it convenient to take the capsules around meals; those who prefer a smaller capsule (which the HA-30 is), and those who may be taking another Glucosamine and/or Chondroitin supplement and want to see how the addition of Hyaluronic Acid makes a difference.
