Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are substances found naturally in the body. Glucosamine is a form of amino sugar that is believed to play a role in cartilage formation and repair. Chondroitin sulfate is part of a large protein molecule (proteoglycan) that gives cartilage elasticity. Hyaluronic Acid is a component of synovial fluid in the joint capsule and in the supporting tissues around the joint. In the joint, Hyaluronic Acid is responsible for directly lubricating the joint by making the synovial fluid more viscous and slippery, providing cushion and protection against friction.
